This scene only ever gets sadder.
This scene… I loved Downton as I was watching series one. It was by far the best series I had watched in years and years, and I loved all but two of the characters. I started shipping Matthew and Mary during their library scene, and I didn’t think I could possibly ship them more than I already did at the end of the first series. Then I got to this scene, and everything about Downton changed for me. I went from “loving” Downton to loving it to the point where you have actual feelings about a show. It’s been almost four months since that moment, and that feeling has only intensified.
